I am left-handed. Of the four classes I take this semester, only one of those classrooms has any left-handed desks at all. This means that for all my other classes, to take notes I have to twist my body in the chair or stretch my shoulder to reach my notebook, and to take notes comfortably, well, I can’t. This decreases the quantity and quality of the notes I take. In short, the absence of left-handed desks in many of the classrooms makes it harder for me to learn.
Maybe this is just me, but I don’t think I should have to put up with this. It should not be any more difficult for left-handed people to learn than for right-handed people. In fact, I am fairly sure this isn’t just me. Since 7-10% of the population is left-handed, it seems reasonable that 7-10% of desks in each classrooms should be left-handed as well. It can’t be that hard.
