After a tightly scheduled regular season for the Occidental Women’s Volleyball team, the Tigers now head into to the SCIAC Tournament to compete for the conference championship crown after a rout of Redlands University on Oct. 27.

The women found their way into the SCIAC playoffs with a win that was all about timing. The team came into the game on Saturday not only having to beat Redlands, but also needing Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (CMS) to fall to University of La Verne. Everything aligned for the Tigers, as the women swept the Bulldogs 3-0 and La Verne handled the Stags 3-0 as well. With this scenario, Occidental earned its second consecutive trip to the postseason.

Their strong senior players led their rout of the Redlands Bulldogs. Multiple time all-SCIAC outside hitter Logan Boyer-Hayse’s (senior) 17 kills gave the Tigers the advantage as they battled for the final spot in the playoffs.

The Tigers have been battling for this position since the beginning of the season when they were ranked 23rd in all of NCAA division three. The goal since the beginning of the season was to make the playoffs, and eventually the NCAA playoffs. With this most recent win under their belts, Occidental looks to be in a good position for some serious upsets when playoff games begin with a match against California Lutheran University.
