In her November 5th letter to the editor, Leanne Zabala praises the Weekly’s effort to “[ensure] that a conservative perspective is covered on campus.” However, one only needs to look back at the joke that was the “debate” put forth by the September 24th issue, primarily concerning California propositions 2, 4, and 8. Also, while I concede to Leanne’s statement that there is a strong correlation between diversity and liberalism, personal experience has revealed a strongly divisive ideological orthodoxy present at Oxy. You are a Republican? You are evil and/or stupid. You have the guts to stand up and call yourself libertarian? You are silly and we lawl in your general direction.
Speaking of Libertarians (this time with a big “L”), did anyone else care to notice that there was a current Oxy student on the ballot? Indeed, Tom Logan ’10 ran for State Assembly, 44th District. Too bad I had to learn about it too late to actually do anything besides fill in the bubble next to his name. Bang-up job, Weekly.
