While I’m glad that the Occidental community is being exposed to the difficulties surrounding cultural programming, last week’s article was misinformed in terms of support from certain administrators. In particular, regarding the support from Dean Avery. The Black Student Alliance would like to clarify that we did receive generous funding from Dean Avery and would like to thank her for her continued support for cultural organizations at Oxy.
We would also like to stress that we are not only fighting for the Black community here, but all cultural organizations, so that in the future these organizations are not silenced and/or treated unfairly.
