Dear Editor,

In response to Liana Huang’s complaint about being disturbed at the ungodly hour of 9am in the morning . . .*GASP* . . . I say she needs to suck it up. Even with the drilling and hammering, you can go to bed at 1 in the morning and still get eight hours of sleep! I mean I know your CORE English course is incredibly demanding and takes up at least 10 hours of your day, but if you can’t work diligently enough to get in bed by 1 a.m. then you should probably re-evaluate the efficiency of your study habits.

Secondly, your solution to the problem is faulty and inconsiderate. I know that YOU might not have class until 6:30 p.m. on TH, but you do not represent the majority of the student body. In fact, if you look at the course count for this fall semester you will see that MORE students have 8:30 a.m. class or lab on T/TH than on M/W/F (328 students compared to 226, respectively). Yes, I know I’m a dork for looking that up, but that’s a different matter. So theoretically, the construction workers are disturbing about 100 fewer students by drilling on T/TH.

But even if this wasn’t the case, it’s not like they have control over when they work. It’s their JOB. They drill when they are told to drill. They can’t start drilling at 1 in the afternoon because they would have just wasted half of the day. You can’t drill in the dark.
