Hello Esteemed Student Body of Occidental College!
I would like to personally invite each and every one of you to the Annual SCIAC Track and Field Championships. It is being held right here at Occidental College! Come see your fellow Tigers compete in two whole days of athletic glory! The first day will be Saturday, April 25, with the preliminary rounds of most running events and finals of the men’s and women’s 3000m steeplechase at 7:35. Saturday will also be the finals of the hammer and javelin throw (starting at 10:00 at the upper soccer field) and the pole vault, long jump, and men’s shot put (starting at 2:30 at Patterson Field).
The competition will resume on Monday, April 27, for the finals of the remaining events. The field events will commence at 3:15 on Patterson Field, with the women’s shot put and men’s discus. The running events will begin at 5:30, with the men’s and women’s 4 x 100m Relays. These will be followed by the men’s and women’s 1500m run at 5:40, the sexiest event of the day, to be sure.
Also, in perhaps the most anticipated showdown since Burr versus Hamilton, the always exciting 4 x 400m relay will begin at 8:20. This will be highlighted by the men’s 4 x 400 team, where four formidable teams are within one mere second of each other! Don’t forget!
So, on Saturday, April 25, and Monday, April 27, come out and support your Occidental College Track and Field squad! Body paint and signs are encouraged, but all you really need to bring is a loud voice and a lot of Oxy spirit! Come help your fellow Tigers throw further, jump higher and run faster than they could without you!
