The Occidental homecoming football game was nothing short of nerve-wracking this past Saturday as the team (3-2 overall; 2-1 SCIAC) came out victorious in the final minutes of the game, defeating Chapman University 35-27. Running back Kwame Do (senior) gave the Tigers an extra boost, rushing for 212 yards and putting three touchdowns on the board.

“Individually, I think it went well,” Do said via email. “There were a lot of things I could’ve done better but we got the win so I’m satisfied. I thought we really brought it together in the second half. The defense shut them down and the offense made the plays when we needed it.”

Occidental women’s soccer (5-6-2; 4-4-2) is coming off a successful week after a 4-1 victory over Chapman and a 0-0 draw with Cal Lutheran. Forward Camille Shrager (sophomore) led the way for the Tigers against Chapman, notching two goals in the second half in the team’s route of the Panthers. Shrager now has four goals on the season.

“We all fueled off of one another and had great inspirational pep talks going into the second half,” Shrager said via email. “I got to play in the end of the first half and started the second half playing all the way to the end of the game.”
