In just the third game of his collegiate career, outfielder Jack Brancheau (first-year) had a massive day at the plate. In the second game of a three game series against Willamette, Brancheau went 3 for 5 and drove in three runs. The first year from Scottsdale, Ariz. also came up clutch in the sixth inning, providing the tie-breaking RBI to put the Tigers up 5-4 to ultimately win the game.

“The RBI felt great,” Brancheau said. “I’ve really been trusting the process, trusting my coaches and trusting my teammates. It was really special to have success out there on the field with my family and the crowd.”

Alex Battest (junior) was nearly unstoppable for the Tigers softball team against Lewis and Clark on Sunday. In the first game of the season, Battest was perfect at bat and tallied three RBIs and two doubles. She hit a walk-off single in the seventh inning, batting in Natalie Glover and sealing a 7-6 victory.

“The girls in the lineup before me kept us alive and scored the runs,” Battest said via email. “All I did was score the last one. Once the run was in I was so excited to start our season with a win. It’s gonna be a great year, and I’m happy we got to start on a high note.”
