Hollywood Pacific Theatre
Originally called the Warner Hollywood Theatre (as in, the company Warner Brothers), the Hollywood Pacific Theatre opened in 1928 on the popular Walk of Fame. The story goes that Sam Warner put a curse on the theatre because it was still under construction when the groundbreaking Warner Bros. film The Jazz Singer came out, which was the first feature-length talking picture (recall the plot of Singin’ in the Rain). Warner pioneered sound technology, which made the production possible. He died at 40 years old on the very day before the premiere of The Jazz Singer from complications of a sinus infection. His ghost supposedly haunts the lobby of the now-closed theatre.
